JTF captures mastermind of UN building bombing
An ex- army Private declared wanted by State Security Service (SSS), Habib Bama, for his alleged role with Boko Haram, has been shot and wounded in a gun battle with officers of the Joint Task Force in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.
Bama is believed to be one of the key leaders of the radical sect and a master mind of the bomb attacks of the Mogadishu Barracks in Abuja, the United Nations building, the Christmas Day bombing at Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Madalla, Niger State and the Police Headquarters bombing also in the nation’s capital, Abuja.
According to a security operative who does not want to be named, the suspect was captured and shot as he tried to abscond.
“He was shot and critical wounded this afternoon. We are still extracting words from him,” the source revealed to Channels Television.
Bama was declared wanted by security agents in February, after the Saint Theresa Catholic Church bombing in Madalla, following his alleged complicity as revealed by the captured spokesperson of the sect, Abul Qaqa.
Abul Qaqa was arrested earlier in the year.
