Blast in Port Harcourt kills one, injures three

An explosion that occurred inside a bus in the Rumuokoro area of Port Harcourt on Thursday has killed one person and injured three others. The spokesman of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Yushau Shuaib who confirmed the incident said the explosion occurred in a commercial bus at Rumuokoro Roundabout in Port Harcourt the Rivers state capital. Mr Shuaib said the driver of the bus died from the blast. Meanwhile, the Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi, told Channels Television in a telephone interview that the explosion was not a suicide bomb attack as is being speculated. Mr Amaechi who spoke from the scene of the explosion said that “the bus was conveying three armed robbers who had explosives and AK-47 rifles.”
